Cultural Arts is a National Annual Art program in which students are encouraged to create artwork that illustrates a given theme. Submissions are made in photography, literature, music composition, and several divisions of visual art: Mixed Media, Drawing, Painting, and Print.
Submissions are judged on a variety of levels: School, city (or school district), district (area), state, and national with only 1st place entries advancing beyond the school level. (1st 2nd & 3rd advance at school level).
Meetings are every Thursday morning at 7:30 am in the Little Theater.
FCCLA
FCCLA stands for Family Community Career Leaders of America.
We stand just for that! We want our members to become an ACTIVE part of our community. This is why most of our activities take place right here in Mesquite. As good citizens of this community, we volunteer locally. We strive to have one event per month.
Mission of JROTC:
The mission of the JROTC is to motivate young people to become better citizens by teaching discipline, leadership, teamwork, map reading, American and military history, and basic rifle marksmanship and safety skills while remaining involved in the school and the community.

All Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors will receive a letter in their English class in the Fall. If you wish to apply, you should complete the requested information and submit by the due date.
Invitations are given to those who qualify for membership in late January. New members are inducted in February.
The Science Club promotes the fun of science.
OUR MOTTO: Science is a verb- something we do. We have contests that promote independent thinking and creativity, giving us an opportunity for socializing and sharing!
MEETINGS: We meet on the third Tuesday of each month in room 101 from 3:50 to 4:30p.m. (and sometimes until 5:00 or 6:00).
MEMBERSHIP: Open to all. Dues are $5 per year, payable by the October meeting.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
Projects include making holiday cards for the patients at Children’s Hospital and participation in other campus community service projects.
Private passions grow into powerful voices. Student Council promotes leadership, dedication and school spirit through developing a community awareness of student government. The purpose of student council is to plan and organize activities that will foster the social growth and civic development of the student body. The Pirate Student Council has started to grow into one of the most predominate clubs on campus. Seven committees preside over a large organization, work with the principal periodically to exchange views, and plan out the Student Council calendar.
Some events that Student Council has sponsored includes Homecoming festivities, Red Ribbon Week, Teacher Appreciation, Carter Blood Drive, Men of PHS, Habitat for Humanity and Children's Cancer Fund.
Membership is open to all students.
TAFE is sponsored by principals throughout the state of Texas. Our club strives help in community service activities, reward teachers throughout the school year, and assist at elementary schools. Our big event is the TAFE Convention which is held each year in San Antonio.
TAFE’s purpose is to provide information to students who wish to enter the field of education, to show appreciation for our teachers, and to contribute to our community.
We meet the 1st Thursday of every month before or after school, and everyone is welcome to join!
Texas Future Music Educators is a group of high school students who are interested in pursuing a career in music education. These students meet on the first Monday of every month after school in the choir room. Student learn about music theory, music teaching, conducting, sight-reading, and much more. Dues-paying members who exhibit regular attendance also have the opportunity to attend the Texas Music Educators Association convention in San Antonio, TX in February.
