All visitors are required to provide a valid driver’s license prior to entering any part of the building.
All visitors are required to enter through the front office where the driver’s license will be scanned through the District’s Raptor system.

Our Namesake
Dr. Ralph Harris Poteet was born on July 12, 1926, in Desdemona, Texas. He attended public schools in Stephenville, where he excelled in football. He went to Southwestern University in Georgetown on a football scholarship in 1944, but entered the Army after his freshman year. He returned to Southwestern in 1947 as a World War II veteran, and graduated with his Bachelor's degree in 1949. He came to Mesquite ISD as the head football coach at Mesquite High School in 1955. Poteet was appointed business manager in 1960, assistant superintendent in 1961 and named superintendent of schools in 1964.
In 1961, he earned his master's degree from East Texas State University (now Texas A&M Commerce) where he also completed his doctoral degree in 1968.

Dr. Ralph H. Poteet High School was the fourth high school built in Mesquite ISD opening in 1986. Our campus serves approximately 1,800 students in grades 9 - 12.
