Cross Elementary School (Elementary School #34)

The 34th elementary school for Mesquite ISD is a mirrored repeat plan of Mesquite ISD’s Hanby Elementary School. The two-story building, serving 1,000 students, is located south of I-20 in the southeast portion of the school district zoning. The site for the school and adjoining park, lies in a newly developed residential area of Mesquite, Texas. Surrounding the exterior of the new building, a playground and learning courtyard was built located on the backside of the school and fenced for student security. In addition, a 3/4-mile walking trail that connects the school and adjoining park will surround the building and playfield, backstop, and space for a lighted playground and lighted basketball courts to be provided by the City of Mesquite. The interior of the school features 33 classrooms and several multi-purpose rooms for collaborative learning. Sustainability for the building includes natural daylight throughout the spaces, shading devices, and many more features.
