Dress Code and Date Policies for Prom:

Poteet felt it would be a good idea to reinforce our expectations for appropriate dress at prom, which will be held on April 21st.


Dress code for Prom

If the attire is questionable, students are encouraged to show their evening wear to the administrators beforehand to determine if it is appropriate for the dance.



Girls will wear semi-formal, formal gowns/attire.


The following will not be permitted:

  • No extremely low cut dresses where cleavage is showing
  • No formal gowns/pants where midriff is showing
  • No extreme backless gowns
  • No see through/sheer gowns
  • No gowns where it is cut up very high on the side
  • Gowns CANNOT be shorter than 2 inches above the knee



Boys will wear  slacks/dress pants/dress shirts OR suit/tuxedo.


The following will not be permitted:

  • Open toed shoes/slides
  • No jeans or shorts
  • No bandanas or baseball caps
  • No T-shirts
  • No torn clothing


**Please check with an administrator if you want clarification about your outfit.**


Consequences: Students will not be permitted into the dance. No money will be refunded.



Date Policies:

If a PHS student’s date is from another school, it is the responsibility of the PHS student to inform his/her date of the dress code expectations. 


If a PHS student’s date is from another school/graduated, it is the responsibility of the PHS student to have their date complete the Date Approval Form and have it signed by their principal. The PHS student must return the approved form to a PHS administrator. No dates 21 or over will be allowed. Date Approval Forms must be approved before your date’s ticket may be purchased.
